Waveform Manager Pro

Waveform Manager Pro is the ideal tool to compose annotated pictures from waveforms, screen images, and meter measurements taken from your scope. It operates as a powerful stand-alone program, or as a front-end for your favorite word processing, graphics or desktop publishing package. Whether you're documenting problem signals, preparing service reports for customers, or just printing waveform pictures, Waveform Manager's easy operation combined with complete document archival and high-quality picture transport via drag and drop or the Windows Clipboard will make your chores a pleasure.

Transfer Data to/from your scope via your PC serial, GPIB or Ethernet port

Waveforms
Setups
Meter measurements
Screen images
Supports over 120 different models

Waveform manager works with the four types of data most commonly availble from you scope including waveforms, screen images, meter measurements and setups.  All data types can be transferred once on command or automatically on a schedule, or when the scope triggers.

Compose and annotate waveform pictures

Drag-and-drop waveform placement
Full control of colors fonts, styles
Copy high resolution metafile pictures and bitmaps directly through the clipboard
Drag and drop waveform pictures into other applications

Display multiple waveforms at once in the waveform window with drag and drop placement together with magnification facilities to easily highlight waveform details.  Options allow you to force disparate waveforms to be displayed on common time scales or magnification settings.

Measurement and Analysis

Full screen X and Y cursors

Use the cursors built-in to the waveform window to measure time and voltage differences on your waveforms.  12 different measurements make quick work of measuring difficult waveform features.

Waveform Parameter Measurements

Over 30 different waveform measurements take the tedium out of your analysis chores.   Measurements include common voltage and time/frequency types such as Peak to Peak and Rise Time.

Pattern Frequency and Pattern Period are exclusive Waveform Manager measurements that use cross correlation to identify the repetition rate of waveform sample patterns, providing much more reliable results on noisy or PWM style waveforms.

Automotive measurements include Injector Peak Volts, Injector On time, Ignition Peak, Ignition Burn Time and Ignition Burn Voltage.

Many measurements can be gated to restrict the region of measurement to the area between the X cursors.  Thresholds and noise immunity can be set individually on each measurement.

Measurement results can be displayed in the dedicated Measurement Window, or placed in notes, window title bars or even as file labels.

Import/Export Waveforms as Tables

Waveform Manager provides programmable ASCII table export capabilities, making it easy to output your waveform data to spreadsheets or analysis programs.  Export to files or through the clipboard with your choice of CSV or tab delimiting.

Waveform Database

User defined data fields together with database indexing and search capabilities enable you to customize the way you save your waveform information.  Define fields to track important customer data right along with you waveforms. If particular fields would be useful when looking up files later, designate them as file labels and they will be listed whenever you later go to open a file.

Measurements and parameters available as data fields:

General (date, time, etc.)
Meter Readings from Scope
Waveform Data
Instrument Settings
Waveform Measurements
Harmonic Measurements Opt-P)
Power Measurements (Opt P)
Cursor Measurements
User defined fields

Cursor Measurements

Four full-screen cursors (2 X, 2 Y) with 13 corresponding measurements
Cursors can be used to gate many waveform measurements.
Results can be displayed as data fields and in a customizable toolbar.

File Formats

Document Files - Bundle all information and save to individual Waveform Manager Document "WFD" files. Keyword search facility provides for easy recall.
Waveform Files - Import/export in common waveform file formats including ISF, CSV, BWV and WFM. Export in user defined text formats.
Picture Files - Import/export in BMP, PNG, JPEG, EMF formats. Pictures can be embedded in Document files with annotation.
Measurement Log Files - Log multiple meter measurements into ASCII text files. Import and display as waveform files.

Clipboard Support/Drag and Drop

Select a display window and press the Copy toolbar button to send a picture of the window to the clipboard. Or drag and drop it directly into another application in either DIB (bitmap) or EMF (metafile) format.

Copy individual waveforms to the clipboard as pictures and data tables.

Epson Screen Grab

Generic screen grab facility works with any instrument which prints screen pictures through a serial port to an Epson or Snap-On Scribe compatible printer. Program converts printer codes to bitmap and displays in Image Window.

Automatic Transfers

Transfers waveforms, measurements or screen images from locations you specify, or from all currently displayed locations. Can perform transfers once at program startup, when the scope triggers, or repeatedly with 1s to 24Hr wait time between. Can be used in conjunction with Capture to File for event logging based on trigger events, or for measurement logging. Also can be used with Epson Screen Grab to automatically update display each time a print job is initiated from the instrument.

Capture To File

Saves waveforms transferred from an instrument into separately numbered files based on a seed name you supply. One file is saved after each transfer except for group transfers where waveforms may optionally be saved to separate files. Number of files is adjustable up to 1,000. File formats include WFD, BMP, PNG, JPEG, EMF.

Can also capture designated measurements in multiple columns to a single measurement log "TXT" file each time a waveform or measurement transfer occurs.

Printing

Print using any printer that has Windows support. You can suppress the printing of background colors, or convert the entire image to monochrome, for excellent results with laser and dot matrix printers. Using Print Preview you can adjust the size and location of the printed image on the page, and view colors and proportions as they will appear.

Easy Installation

Program identifies the currently connected instrument and automatically configures the serial port for successful communication. Most of the 160 page user's guide is also available in the on-line help.

System Requirements

IBM PC or compatible; Win95, 98, 2000, NT 4.0, ME, XP. VGA or better display is recommended. One serial port, GPIB interface or Ethernet adapter for instrument connection. GPIB requires National Instruments GPIB drivers. Ethernet requires Tektronix TekVisa drivers.
